enet imparted these words: You need Office to run that fucked up Excel spreadsheet that accounting made (with all the macros). You also prefer Excel due to muscle memory knowing the keyboard shortcuts. (ctrl+home, alt+d, f, f).
You get proper Word, so that you don't accidentally insert one-too-many carriage returns for the customers document to be jacked up. (Yes, Word is not a typesetting program and people need to learn how to use page-breaks.)
You get to print to a proper SMB-shared printer. Useful, since IT can't or won't get printing working from iPads/iPhones because they don't want iOS devices on their domain network and because it needs additional software.
Okay you win enet, I don't care. We're discussing something that neither applies to me, or that I care about. I do not care to argue who can have the most mundane uses of tech in the cubicle. I've never and can't see my self in the near future requiring an SMB connectivity to print an Office document.
Although this may have developed into a hilarious Scott Adams story line for Dilbert.
