There just aren't that many people showing up to vote in person illegally.
Now on the back end, that's another issue. The Diebold machines are crap and trivially easy to tamper with (as is their tabulation software, with no audit trail, so someone skilled in MS Access can alter the result of the election. Not Joking). Then there's the traditional swapping boxes of ballots and the like.
What's the problem with requiring a voter registration card, presenting a utility bill, or the like? Unless you want to stop poor or young people from voting - they are less likely to have a driver's license or state ID and tend to move a lot more, meaning their registration is out of date more often.
