The Yankees have a huge market and their own television station. They bring in billions and they spend it on the best free agents available (and sometimes the worst). It's a grossly unfair playing field.
Other sports, like the NFL and NHL, have a hard salary cap limiting how much teams can spend. All teams spend roughly the same amount and creates a lot of parity across the league. It's a much better system.
I have other reasons to hate the Yankees too, but the fact that they can go out and spend $50M on a player to fill a gap when they need to and my team can't is a real piss off.
