If someone mentions to me they stopped playing d&d after 2e because they are upset/angry/disheartened/what-have-you I just tell them I'm sorry now. I've grown tired of having to defend my hobby against people who just complain for the sake of it. :-)
I'll get off my soapbox now.
I have been weaning myself off of rpg forums for the same reason. I realized a long time ago that one of the beautiful things about pen and paper RPGs is that I don't need electronic input for them to be enjoyable, and time spent arguing with people about matters I know to be enjoyable to me is time better spent working on game prep, etc.
