"I'm a Christian. I do believe that tradition and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."
He's been dangling the "evolving" tag on his views for a while, but who knows or cares what his personal views actually are? Like Romney, he still believes the states are well within their rights to ban gay marriage. He was forced into this announcement by Biden announcing that he supports it, and gay donors were withholding their money from his campaign. He's effectively come out endorsing states banning gay marriage, but it's fun to see the press running around talking about how awesome and brave he is for endorsing gay marriage.
"One of the things about Herman Cain is, I think that he makes that white Republican base, uh, of the party feel okay, feel like they are not racist because they can like this guy. I think he is giving that base a free pass. And I think they like him because they think he's a black man who knows his place. I know that's harsh, but that's how it sure seems to me." -- Karen Finney ========================================
