...man was created perfect to stand, but free to fall. That never fundamentally changed after the fall. If Adam had been made "perfect" in the view that Catholics push, then he would never have chosen an earthly love over his spiritual one. And that is the crux of the whole issue, man will hold dearer to things which he has a physical relationship with, which is why so many people tend towards atheism today. It is a continuation of that original sin, allegorically speaking, as man continues to cling to that which he sees and knows. Faith is a very scary concept.

I can't argue "religion" but I can argue texts and words and what they mean. And that, fundamentally, is all that can be argued. The rest in conjecture.

“Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville

“When the taste for physical gratifications among them has grown more rapidly than their education . . . the time will come when men are carried away and lose all self-restraint . . . . It is not necessary to do violence to such a people in order to strip them of the rights they enjoy; they themselves willingly loosen their hold. . . . they neglect their chief business which is to remain their own masters.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville
