The installed government was a totalitarian dictatorship (much like still exists in Thailand today with our unwavering support...that's another story that few Americans know about), the Shah's security forces committed widespread human rights abuses (including torture, rape and execution), and, because of this the "radicals" were able to take power in 1979 by seizing upon the hatred for what we did.

Hmmmm.

Ignorance is bliss when it comes to many people exhibiting deep and profound ignorance about who we fucked in the world and how we conveniently forget why it is that certain countries hate us today.
